“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!” – Luke 12:27-28

This passage is such a loving command for us. A command to not worry. God already knew what the world is now telling us; the harsh affects of worry on our body. Studies show the stress is one of the leading contributors to disease and poor health. Our immune systems are weekend when we are under constant stress and worry. But we know that if God takes care of the flowers, he’ll take care of us. But that means not everyday is sun and pleasure. If every day was sunny and no rain or clouds, the flowers would quickly die. So while we have to trust that God will meet our needs as he does the flowers, he also wants our minds to be focused on something bigger. He wants our attention to be on the treasures of the eternal Kingdom not of the desires of this world which only lead to more worry, stress and wanting more. God wants to give us great happiness. He wants to give us lasting joy. And that comes with moving past the worry of this world and moving towards the faith of the eternal.
