"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58

Corinthians 15 was written to prove the resurrection.  The Apostle Paul (the author of Corinthians) gives the believers of Corinth concrete evidence on why the resurrection is key to the Christian faith.  He makes his point and then uses a “therefore”. The ever important word in the Bible, “therefore”.  Once he has established the importance of the resurrection, he instructs us with our verse - therefore, stand firm.  Because we know death is defeated and we have eternal life because of the resurrection, we should stand firm and unshakable all the more for Jesus right now in this life.  Staying steadfast in the faith.  Firmly fixed on the gospel not subject to worldly influences. 

Life can be unrewarding, we may feel like we are on a hamster wheel, but here Paul encourages us in light of the resurrection and all Christ accomplished to keep working enthusiastically on mission for Him.  Don’t let discouragement in whatever form it comes put out the flame God ignited in you. Be reminded to stand firm.
